In the Netherlands, a new talent program has been launched for young people who could use a helping hand: RGF Connect - GOALS. The kickoff took place at Almere City FC soccer club.
RGF Connect - GOALS helps young, struggling, adults to increase their self-knowledge and skills. For example, because they have a different cultural background or an economic disadvantage, or they struggle with mental challenges. Research shows that more than half of young people feel insecure about making the right choices.
The next step in their lives
“We would like to offer these young adults additional support and guidance, so that they are better positioned to make the right choices in terms of education and work. In our program, they learn to develop their talents and shape their future. This helps them take the next step in their lives," says Hannie Dalhuisen, CSR Director, RGF Staffing the Netherlands. "It is a local initiative, aimed specifically at young people from the Almere region with the ambition to expand to more communities. Under the guidance of professional coaches from USG Restart, part of RGF Staffing the Netherlands, they follow an intensive program to help them along their path to a job, education or a combination of both."
The RGF Connect GOALS program includes a dynamic mix of sports activities, inspirational speakers and interactive workshops that help young adults grow, discover their passions and make an impact. From vitality and personal growth to financial intelligence, work and education, and personal branding. The program offers a holistic approach to address the most important aspects of their lives.
Fit GOALS, Money GOALS, Life GOALS, My GOALS
Jannette van Blitterswijk, Manager Inclusive Labor market, USG Restart, explains how the program is structured: "During a 16-week period, we increase their confidence in their own talent, self-knowledge, social skills and participation in society. In the first phase, 'Fit GOALS’, they meet new people, engage in sports activities together and learn how to get fit and stay fit. We have inspirational speakers and cool workshops that help them discover their own identity, talents and passions. The next step is called ‘Money GOALS’. Participants learn to be smart with money, including being inspired by entrepreneurs on launching a career. In phase 3, 'Life GOALS’, they discover their talents in workshops and plan their dream future. The concluding phase 'My GOALS' is a buddy program, helping them to get closer to their goals step by step. In short: turning goals into actions!" RGF Connect - GOALS not only gives participants a boost to make a good start in the job market, but also positive power for the rest of their (working) lives. In addition, the program helps them to familiarize themselves with the job market, Hannie explains. "RGF Staffing wants to give young people realistic expectations. At the same time, we want to give them the opportunity to realize their dreams. By making young people aware of their own talents, we can make an important contribution to their further careers."
